  3. Write the following on your worksheet: • Definition of observation: • Information gathered using your 5 senses. • Data, Evidence, “Facts”; • NO OPINIONS INVOLVED • Provide an example.

  4. Write the following on your worksheet: • Definition of Inference • A conclusion based on observations, other information or past experiences. • Conclusions, Claims • Rational • Based on facts, but includes “opinion” – bias. • Provide an example.

  5. Look at your 4 sentences about the “Cat and Bird Picture”. • Label each sentence as an observation (O) or an inference (I).

  6. Observation Inference Worksheet: • You’ll be recording observations and inferences about the next picture in the chart. • Aim for at least 5 statements. • You should have more observations than inferences.
