Internal Strategies Self-Punishment • Control your self-punishments • Identify behaviors that induce guilt and self-criticism • Identify self-punitive habits • Remover supports for negative behavior. • Substitute positive behaviors and utilize rewards
Self-Rewards • Identify what motivates you • Identify desirable behavior • Develop a habit of praise and reward for your accomplishments
Natural Rewards Focus your thoughts on natural rewards: • Examine your current activities • Think, “How could I rearrange my activities/settings/conditions so that I optimize my sense of competence, self-control and purpose?”
