The Helga attacks. • Today a small gunboat, the Helga sailed up the Liffey and started shelling the Liberty Hall and the GPO . The British thought that Liberty Hall was occupied by the rebels but the only person inside was the caretaker (he ran for his life when the fire started).
More fighting Some British troops landed in south of the city and came under fierce attack suffering 200 hundred dead or injured.
The GPO • Meanwhile the GPO began to take heavy punishment from British machine guns, shelling from the Helga and the destructed power of the artillery pieces.
