Please click here to view the Powerpoint Presentation showing the beautiful idols of Upper Ahobilam, the pristine pure springs of the BhavanAsini river and the rare serthi sevai of the Moolavar and utsavar vigrahams of SrI MAlOlan accepting aarAdanam from Prakrutam SrImad Azhagiya Singar in the cave temple. SrImad Azhagiya Singar will be celebrating his cAturmAsya sankalpam this year (2008) at the AhObila divya desam and so let us also visit this parama pavitra stalam of SrI Ahobilam and pay our respects at every sannidhi of the nava Narsimhas through this virtual tour!
SrI: Aho VIryam Aho Shouryam Aho Bahu ParAkrama: Narasimham Param Daivam Ahobilam Ahobalam || The Narasimha avatAram of SrIman NArAyaNan embodies the anugraha (protection of those who have sought Him as refuge) and nigraha (annhilation of evil) aspects. No other avatAram displays the extensive love of PerumAL for His devotees and the immense anger that He manifests against those who harm His bhaktAs. The fierce Man-Lion form of His AvirbhAvam to save His bhaktan, PrahlAdan has been eulogized by many great mahAnubhAvAs, AzhwArs and AchAryAs. The sacred Ahobila kshetram in Kurnool District, AndhraPradesh in India is held to be the place where the events of SrI Narasimha AvatAram was enacted by EmperumAn. Here lies the famous nava nrusimha (nine forms of nrusimha) shrines. The verdant hills, thick forests, steep climbs and scintillating waterfalls along with the roars of lions and other wild animals that roam the dense forests have been beautifully brought forth by Thirumangai AzhwAr in his Periya Thirumozhi Paasurams! Let us now allow ourselves to be immersed in the beauty of these majestic sights as described by Kaliyan and tour the abode of SrI AhObileSan..........
The navanrusimha shrines There are 12 shrines in total. These are the celebrated nine shrines called Nava Nrusimha. They are Jwala, Ahobila, Malola, Kroda, Karanja, Bharaghava, Yogananda, Chatravata, and Paavana. Then, we have Ugra Stambam, which is a column of rock. This rock itself is considered Lord Nrusimha. The eleventh one is called Prahlada Padi. These eleven are in the hills in one sense or another. The twelth one is Prahlada Varadan temple located at Lower Ahobilam near the Malola Guest House.
The navanrusimha shrines Normally, devotees want to cover the nine Nrisimhas and Prahlada Varadan. Only the most determined visit the Ugra Stambam. Of the nine, SrI Jwala Narasimha and SrI Pavana Narasimha shrines are the most difficult. The starting point for both is SrI Ahobila Nrisimha temple at Upper Ahobilam, which can be reached by road, and a climb of about 50 steps. In this Presentation we will visit the shrines of lower Ahobilam, Upper Ahobilam, SrI Jwala Narasimhan Sannidhi and SrI KrOda (VarAha) Narasimhan sannidhi.

Ahobilesar Temple at Upper Ahobilam provides the gateway to the hills and upper forests of SrI Ahobila KshEtram. AhobilEsar temple has the sannidhis of AhobilEsar, Chenchu Lakshmi and near by is the BrundhAvanam of the 6th Pattam Azhagiya Singar, who entered into one of the caves nearby for performing SrI Nrisimha ArAdhanam. The river BhavanAsini with its many waterfalls is just behind AhobilEsar's Sannidhi. A short climb away from AhobilEsar Sannidhi is the KrOda Narasimhar or Varaha Narasimhar Sannidhi. Here the Lord sports the face of a VarAham. This path further leads to the Jwala Nrusimhan Sannidhi. Going to Jwala Narasimha sannidhi involves climbing through rocks on a river bed and up a narrow path way for about an hour. Another short climb away is Sri Malola Narasimhan Sannidhi, just about a 100 steps to a side from Kroda. The utsava murthy of this Moolavar is the AarAdhya devathA of the illustrious Sri Matam.
