  1. RUI: Novel Transport Properties in Strongly Interacting Electron SystemsDonna Sheng, Cal. State Univ. Northridge Barry Friedman, Sam Houston State Univ., DMR 0307170 • We explore ground state, transport property and quantum phase transition from exact spectrum and topological property of wave-function. (a) (top left) Spin polorization in spin-orbit coupling graphene system with nontrivial Chern number. (b) (top right) Unconventional QHE in graphene. (c) (bottom) Superfluid density and diagonal order parameter demonstrate a super-solid phase. We also explain the phonon Hall effect discovered experimentally as associated with magnetization of ions.

State Uinv Northridge and Sam Houston, as well as visiting international students. The PI has also established a long term collaborations with researches from research institutions (Princeton University, UCSB, UCB, etc.)
