Plains • Found on land, have rolling area • Low elevations • No hills and mountains • Large • 300 meters • Found in all continents and climates • One of them is in middle part of US, Great Plains. Great Plains are higher elevations, dry, grassy plains with few trees. Some of them turned into farmland, they grow wheat and corn.

  3. Plateaus • Flat top mountains with steep sides • High mountains • Numerous mountains • No more than 1000 ft. (300 meters) • Sharp on each side of surrounding land • Elevation is higher than 1000 feet Tibetan Plateaus is the highest mountain in the world

  4. Alluvial plains Alluvial plansform of steep mountain valley rivers flow onto more level lands, forcing the rush of heavy waters to spill over their banks and drape their sediments out like a fan.

  6. Coastal plains Coastal plains are stretches of lowland next to oceans that are separated from the interior by highland features such as mountains and plateaus. Often the plains are portions of the ocean floor built up from the sediments rivers carry towards the sea. Geologists call the submerged part of coastal plains the continental shelves.
