  8. How should I approach one? It Depends!!

  9. Example “Please Examine this patients lower abdomen, and other areas you may subsequently feel are necessary. Your examiner will have questions”

General Approach • Confidence • Wash Hands • Introduction • Consent • Confidentiality • End of the bed inspection • “Would you like me to…” • Accurately describe findings in latin • “Consistent with…” • Look for other possible features, exclude differentials • Summarise • Thank Patient • Answer questions systematically • Thank Examiner • Wash your hands
