  8. Trenches and Excavations If you are excavating it can result in Cave-ins and falling objects are hazards in these areas. Sometimes if there is a peace of pipe that might have septets on the pipe and it could make a very hazard or environmental disaster.

The workers below you may not be adequately protected from the hazard of falling, rolling, or sliding materials or equipment.

OSHA requires an attendant to remain outside a permit-required confined space. The attendant monitors entry, work, and exit.
