  1. 8/20/13 Room B-103 Mr. Roeder Welcome to Algebra 2 • Pick up the 3 items on the back table (Syllabus, yellow sheet, & white sheet) • Quietly begin filling out the white student info sheet.

  2. ECHS Mathematics Department Business Math Any student who passed Algebra 1 and Geometry and needs a 3rd year of math. Should be a senior. Algebra 1 Geometry Foundations of Algebra 2 Algebra 2 Intermediate Algebra Math Analysis AP Statistics • Students from Algebra 2, Intermediate Algebra, or Math Analysis • Should be a senior AP Calculus

  3. Grading Policy * There will be a comprehensive final exam at the end of each semester. * Each chapter will have quizzes, study team tests, and individual tests. A COMPLETE NOTEBOOK will be turned in at the end of each semester for a grade. You should expect about 30 minutes (or more) of homework every day.

Student Expectations Student Expectations: • Bring class material to class everyday • Respect teacher, classmates, and school property • Follow instructions and be on task • Be honest and positive! +++++++ Consequences include: • 1 warning, in-class discipline, parent call, detention, referral, conference, and N or U in citizenship.

  6. Attendance Policy Tardies You are expected to be in class and ready to work when the bell rings. This means be IN YOUR SEAT at the bell! Assignments are due at the beginning of class. Late work will not be accepted! Tardies will result in lunch or after school detention. Absences All assignments are due the day you return and absence must be excused through the Attendance Office. Quizzes and tests must be made up the day your return to class if your absence is excused. You must have a readmit slip from the Attendance office. You are responsible for making sure that you make up missed work and assessments.

Daily Materials • Graph paper notebook • Ruler • Pencils • Scientific calculator (TI–30 XS) • Optional: Graphing Calculator (TI–83 or TI–84 Plus recommended) • Algebra 2 textbook • Red pen • Highlighters • Binder • 4 notebook dividers The Materials Quiz Is Wednesday. You will need to TURN IN YOUR COMPLETE NOTEBOOK AT THE END OF EACH SEMESTER.

  9. Electronic Device Policy ECHS is implementing a zero tolerance regarding the use of electronic devices in class. This includes: Music listening devicesand their attachments (headphones, “ear buds”, etc.), cell phonesand their attachments, cameras, video and audio players, video and audio recorders, video game devices, and all other electronic devices determined to be inappropriate in classrooms or during instructional minutes These devices must remain OFF and OUT OF SIGHT before you enter the classroom and must remain so for the entire period. 1st violation: Confiscation of device, parent pick-up.         2nd violation: Confiscation of device, parent pick-up, conference with assistant principal for appropriate disciplinary action.

Graduation Requirements & UC/CSU Entrance Requirements Math Graduation Requirements: • Pass 3 years in mathematics, including Algebra 1 and Geometry, with a grade of “D” or better. • Pass the California High School Exit Exam UC/CSU Minimum Entrance Requirements: • Pass at least three years of math (beginning with Algebra1, Geometry, Algebra II, etc.) • Four years of math highly recommended • Earn at least a C or better in all math courses
