History of HLAA • Founded as Self Help for Hard of Hearing People, (SHHH) in 1979 by Howard E. “Rocky” Stone • Organization Began in Family Room of the Stone House • Grown to over 10,000 paid members • Recently become HLAA Hearing Loss Association of America
Membership • Not a member until you send $25 annually to Bethesda, MD. Then You Become a member of HLAA. • Local chapters are open to anyone who wishes participate … member or not. • If you can afford $25, HLAA needs your membership Hearing Loss Association of America
