Why should I restate the question? • Restating the question points you in the right direction to answer the question. • Restating the question gives you a starting part. • Restating the question provides your reader or audience with an introduction to your answer.
When you restate…. • Use as many words from the question in your answer. • Do not use pronouns. (he,she,him,it,we,her)

What question might have been asked? • The scientific process involves several steps. • This mathematical problem can be solved in two ways.
Steps for restating the question • Underline the words you are going to keep. • Cross out words you don’t need. • Rewrite the sentence with added words.
