A.C.E(PC).S Model
A • Answer the question or questions the prompt is asking you. • Restate the part of the question • Answer all parts in complete sentences.
C • Cite a quote or summarize an example from the text you are reading to help back up the answer to the questions. • Use transition sentence starters: “A quote that supports this is…” • Explain background information about the quote or share what was happening in the story around it(context).
E • Explain why chose the quote that you did and how it applies to your answer. • Use a transition sentence starter like: “I chose this quote because….” • Give a reason why you believe it supports your answer.
PC • Personal connection- share how you can personally connect to the answers and explanations. • Use a transition sentence starter like: “I can relate to this because….” This reminds me of because…” I can compare this to…beacuase…” • Share a specific example of how you can relate, connect to or compare what you are talking about to something else(yourself, another book,a movie, the world, etc.)
S • Sum it all up, remind us of the point you are making throughout your response. • Use a transition sentence starter like “In conclusion…” therefore…” • Tie it back to the question you were answering.
ACE(PC)S Model • Prompt: In the children’s book, : The Big Orange Splot” by Daniel Manus Pinkwater, when describing his newly designed house, Mr.Plumbean states: “My house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and it looks like all of my dreams.” • Question: • What do you think Mr. Plumbean means when he says this and what message do you think the author is trying to teach us through his character?
