  3. “My people love to have it so”Jeremiah 5:31 • Bible preaching is “obsolete” • Distinctive preaching is minimized, ridiculed & rejected • THE BIBLE is still sufficient to meet every need we have, 2 Tim. 3:16-17 • Enough, adequate, satisfactory, capable, competent 2 Tim. 4:2-5

  4. ORIGIN • From God, 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21 • Verbally and completely inspired, 1 Cor. 2:10-13 • Old Testament, 2 Sam. 23:2; Jer. 36:2, 4 • New Testament, 1 Cor. 14:37 (Rev. 1:11; 2:1) • Superior regard for what the Bible says(1 Ths. 2:13)

  5. AUTHORITY • Conduct-regulating collection of writings, 2 Tim. 3:16 • Words of God,1 Pet. 4:11 (Lk. 10:16; Jno. 13: 20; Heb. 1:2) • Not human wisdom, 1 Cor. 1:21; Col. 2:8, 20-23 • Falsely called “knowledge,” 1 Tim. 6:20-21 • Divine word into our hearts, Col. 3:16-17 (Eph 3:17)

  6. FINALITY • Complete & completely given, 2 Tim. 3:17; Jno. 16:12-15 • Once for all delivered, Jude 3 • Alteration brings condemnation, Gal. 1:6-10 • Saves, incorruptible, lives and abides forever, 1 Peter 1:22-25 • Adequate standard for life and for judgment, John 12:48-50

FINALITY • No extra-Biblical source necessary to save • Every extra-Biblical source is superfluous, & vain as a standard of authority, Gal. 1:8-9 • Bible is decisive, conclusive, definitive, certain, sure & irrevocable, Eph. 3:3-4 • To turn away from the Bible is to turn to “broken cisterns,” Jer. 2:13 (17:12-13)
