TIG session Cambridge, September 28, 2007
agenda • Igor and Laurent • Franck (maybe) • Gerard: XML schema mapping • Discussions • Data model structure • Validation: instances in XML • Discovery: SxAP or Registry like? • SNAP services: standard and custom • Who, what, when?
Discussion • Q1: How happy are we with the SNAP data model? • TBD update wiki page with (slightly updated) versions • structure (characterisation-like features, semantic vocabularies) • validation: can we describe real simulations (and related products) • Q2: How will we use the model for discovery? • SxAP like (HTTP-GET) • Registry like (more complex support)
Discussion • Q3: What “SNAP”-getData services do we want to predefine? • download, cutout (includes slice), project, virtual telescope (lightcone) • custom • standard API (to be extended)
Action items I • Datamodel (X-mass, 2007) • design: characterisation issues (ML, FB, IC), target object properties, ontology objects (FLeP and standard vocabs, astro journal subject keywords) • XML schema follows from UML (DM WG?) • validation: instances created by RW, IC et al, PM et al, UB et al , GL et al
Action items II • “SNAP portal” implementations (May, 2008) (RW, UB, IC) • accept XML docs • allows browsing/querying/whatever • links to SNAP “getData” services • SNAP “getData” implementations • download and custom only for now • Needs work on document (CG)
Action intems III • Contacts to WGs • DM: framework for XML schema from UML • Semantics: standards for labelling physical processes, object, numerical properties • Registry: tell us how to define our resources, extension schemas (help with implementing SNAP portal?) • Discussions via mailing list !
