Examples • 据统计，英语最常用的5000词汇中，27%来自本民族，47%来自法语，17%直接来自拉丁语，9%来自其它各种语言。 • (1)有47%即2350个直接来自法语，如administer, state, empire, authority, justice, crime, prison,, army, navy, peace • (2)来自汉语的词汇约有30多个，例如tofu(豆腐), yum cha(饮茶)， fengshui (风水)， kowtow (叩头), typhoon(台风), shanghai(拐骗) ，lama(喇嘛), yak（牦牛）。 • (3)一批拉丁词如pope, candle, priest, organ, altar等进入了英语
