Aim and objectives • Develop an in-door FES-assisted cycling ergometer to exercise paraplegics by stimulating single muscle group, the quadriceps • Integrate a novel assist mechanism (flywheel and electrical clutch) to assist the legs, delay muscle fatigue and prolong the exercise Current status • PID/Fuzzy logic-based control for FES cycling (with andwithout • assist mechanism) • Fuzzy logic-based closed loop control for flywheel/clutch • mechanism • Force-drop monitor (derived from clinically recorded data) UKACC PhD Presentation Showcase
