SUMO-BOT Construction • Remote control cars can be used IF modified • Electric power, Radio remote – no wires • School name on the bot • Must be able to operate on three frequencies • Max size 40 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm at any time during the competition • Max weight of 2.0 kg, includes batteries, does not include remote • Combined voltage of all batteries in the bot must be 14.4 or less • No projectiles, flames, sharp objects, magnets, pneumatic devices
SUMO-BOT Competition • Double Elimination Tournament • Impound – everything : bots, tools, batteries, controller • No recharging facilities, no recharging devices impounded • No work done after impound and before 1st match. • Ring dimensions: 5.0 ft by 5.0 ft square (smooth, hard floor) • 90 second prep - 2 minute rounds – 1st bot out loses – lighter bot wins if neither is pushed out • Penalties: stalling , driving out of ring -- see handout for more details • May have 2 rings going at same time – depends upon number of entries • Can work on devices between matches – must work in the controlled area.
SUMO-BOT Scoring • Intentional damage to another bot or the ring will result in disqualification • 1st– Tournament winner2nd – Tournament runner up3rd and on – ranked by number of wins • Tie breakers • total times of lost matches divided by mass (higher is better) • mass (lower is better) • Bots that don’t meet specs will ranked below all compliant bots and will not be allowed to compete in main tournament. Non-compliant sub-tournament possible.
