  1. Chartered Evidence To Become A CPEng In Australia If you dream of becoming a CPEng in Australia, then the phrase ‘Chartered Evidence must be buzzing around you. If you know about it, then you will know more, and if you know nothing about it, then you will get a clear idea of what it is by reading this article. So, read it attentively: What is Chartered Evidence? Evidence can comprise emails, drawings, minutes, plans, reports, charts, risk assessments, written narratives, presentations or other documents. By means of them, you can show your engineering work and prove that you satisfy the requirements of the Chartered Competencies for your Occupational Category and Areas of Practice. The Chartered Evidence you provide will also have your resume and Continuing Professional Development Log.

  2. The things Engineering Australia will look for in your Chartered Evidence: The following are the things EA will look for in your Chartered Evidence to provide you with the CPEng status: Validity: Your evidence must show that the specific problem or situation or task has actually and personally been done by you in claiming competency, not that is it only a representation of what might have been done in a hypothetical situation. Authenticity: The evidence provided must focus on the personal eligibility shows by you, not by your team member or someone else. Reliability: The evidence must be enough to show that the results are repeatable and not the result of a happy accident. Sufficiency: There must be sufficient evidence of sufficient quality for a competency assessment in your Occupational Category. The engineering problems and activities you coped with must be those ones that are appropriate to the Areas of Practice and all aspects of what each competency means in practice must be addressed. Currency: Historical evidence may not be related readily to the competency criteria in use. Currency implies that the proof is such that it can readily relate to the appropriate competency Element. Usually, the work done in the last 8 years will be enough to show competency. If requiring going back past 10 years, you are advised to contact a CPEng Australia expert first to make sure that your experience is acceptable as evidence to show competency. Evidence Discussion: The Evidence Discussion takes place when you have enrolled and paid fees for your Chartered Application. One of the EA assessors will review your Self Assessment and Industry Review results with your resume and CPD Log as well as take into account the Areas of Practice you seek for becoming a CPEng. After that, you will be contacted for a phone discussion about the evidence you have shown in your Industry Review and what may be appropriate for you to give to Engineers Australia for formal Assessment.

  3. It is your chance to ask questions and seek clarification on evidence expectations. You can also raise any issues you may have in giving evidence, which might be due to privacy or access concerns and how you can still offer some form of documentary evidence for Assessment. If unable to secure an Industry Reviewer, then Assessor will also raise with you any extra evidence or verification necessary so that they can take up your Chartered assessment. This discussion will take place up to 3 weeks after the completion of your Chartered application enrolment. EA assessor will try to call you a number of times, but if they can’t reach you within the three-week period, they may only send written comments rather than based on what they get from you rather than what may have come from a discussion. You have to take detailed notes, as it is your responsibility. After the completion of your Evidence discussion, you will get a notification to access your Application Dashboard to upload your Evidence. Any brief comments that are based on your discussion or otherwise, given by the Assessor will be visible on the Evidence Summary page with your Evidence Upload Task list.
