  3. We are not responsible for Adam and Eve’s sin but we bear the effects of it • 1) being weak • 2) easily tempted to sin Mary was created free from the effect of Original sin. God prepared Mary so that she would be worthy to carry the Son of God in her womb. Read and memorize – Luke 1:48

  4. OT Prefigurement:The Ark of the Covenant & Mary In the same way, the Ark of the Covenant was built in the Old Testament to be a fitting receptacle for the written word of God (Exodus 37: 1-9).

  5. Ark of the Covenant Mary: 1) Richly Adorned 1) Full of Grace 2) Incorruptible 2) Perpetual Virginity Assumption 3) Vessel of God’s Law 3) Vessel of the Word made flesh • Mary then is the “Ark of the New Covenant” (Rev 11:19 / 12:1)

  6. Immaculate Conception • 1) from her conception • 2) filled with divine life • 3) without original sin • 4) free from weakness and inclination to any sin

  7. Magisterium • 1) consistently taught by the Church • 2) defined a dogma on Dec. 8, 1854 • 3) Pope Pius IX • 4) Celebrated on Dec. 8th • 5) Holy Day of Obligation
