(2 Thessalonians 2:1-3) What was Paul’s teaching about the Lord’s return and how did it compare to other views? • Pretribulation – (Paul’s teaching) The rapture of the church occurs before the 7-year tribulation • Mid-Tribulation – (The false teachers view) The rapture will occur after 3½ years of tribulation • Post-Tribulation – The church will be on earth during the entire tribulation

How does a Christ-follower avoid falling to false teaching? • Their doctrine – False teachers speak from their own delusion not the divine word • Their effect on others – Results are followers rejection of God’s word, a rejection of biblical authority, a division among the saints • Their own moral character – They have pride, immorality and prey upon the weak

The sequence and timing of the Lord’s return is impossible to know as Jesus Himself said only the Father in heaven knows when He will return. So the most important thing is that He will return and believers must stay alert and faithful.
