Abstract The High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) is an upgrade of the LHC to achieveinstantaneousluminosities by a factor of five largerthan the LHC nominal value, therebyenabling the experiments to enlargetheir data sample by one order of magnitude comparedwith the LHC baseline programme. The HL-LHC projectdeliverablesrankfrom standard industrialequipment to innovativeunprecedented technologies, involvingexternalpartners in the industry and from Collaborations. The HL-LHC Safety Office developed, in collaboration with CERN HSE unit, a systematic and scaledapproach of riskassessments. Existingrisk identification and evaluationprocesses have been revised and updated to ensure an optimized use of resources to target the safety challenges of this large-scaleproject. This talk willpresent the riskevaluationprocess, as well as the workflow and information exchange between the differentstakeholders. A particular attention isalsopaid to documentation and itsarchiving to allowaccess and retrievalduring the design, installation, commissioning and operation of the different hardware. The scalability of the methodwillbeillustratedwithexamplesfrom a givenequipment to an assembly of components and up to a facility. Christelle Gaignant – ITSF2019 @ESS Lund – EDMS 2153979
