Bell Work!!! • Brainstorm some things that you could say to someone your age or older to convince them to stay abstinent?
If you have good reasons for doing something, chances are you’ll succeed. Today you’re going to think about goals and the future, and how remaining abstinent can help you reach your goals.
Turn to “My Goals & My Future” on page 24.Complete part 1 of the activity sheet.
We’re going to do an activity that will help you complete part 2.
Group Roles • Task Master: Makes sure everyone stays on task. • Writer: Writes the group member responses on the chart paper. • Leader: Makes sure everyone in the group participates. • Reporter: Reports the groups answers to the class.
You are going to be working in groups to list negative consequences of becoming a teen parent. • In your groups of 6, brainstorm how becoming a teen parent could negatively affect the area of life listed on the chart paper. • After about 1-2 minutes, you will move to the next piece of chart paper. Read what the previous group wrote, and then add another negative consequence to the list for that category.
Once you are back at your original station. • Circle the 3 things listed that you think would discourage most students from becoming teen parents. • The reporter in each group will present those three things to the class.
Complete part 2 of the “My Goals & Future” activity sheet.Be prepared to share your answers with the class.
