A Business Analyst should have adequate knowledge of business environment and solution frameworks. They should act as an intermediary between developers, business owners and project managers. Once students pass out from their college, they can begin their career as a junior business analyst. By gaining industry experience for a few years, they can take up the position of a Business Analyst. As the years of experience increases, a BA will be promoted as a Senior Business Analyst and will have to train other junior BA’s joining their organization. In addition to it, they will also manage large, complex and more critical projects. Another career path would be to become a Business Analyst Practice Lead wherein you would be responsible for managing business analysis activities within the organization and managing business analysts of specific projects that your company have undertaken. Furthermore, a senior BA can enhance their career prospects by specializing in a particular industry or niche such as banking, insurance, education or manufacturing etc. Getting employed as a BA consultant is another career option for Business Analysts. As a consultant, your company would employ you on a contract basis to several client companies they have partnered with. You will work as a Business Analyst for your client company for a respective time period as mentioned in the contract between your parent company and Client Company. Thus you would solve issues related to the business analysis activity of the client companies. Being an Enterprise Architect would be the top most position you can take your career path towards as a Business Analyst. As an Enterprise Architect, you would provide business analysis and solutions on an enterprise wide scale and thereby creating a roadmap for the strategy of your organization. It is at this level wherein you will have discussions and conversations at the CTO level. You will be having regular interactions with the top-level executives of your organization to provide the best business analysis activity within your company.
