  10. Revision of the Manual on Statistics of International Trade in Services (MSITS) • MSITS first published in 2002 • Aim : provide clearer, more detailed and comprehensive guidance for the measurement of service • Task Force on Statistics of ITS plans to produce and updated MSITS by the end of 2009 for approval by UN Statistical Commission (UNSC) in 2010

  11. Main Changes to the Manual • Incorporation of BPM6 and 2008 SNA changes • EBOPS reviewed –limited change, still a disaggregation of the trade in services classification • Foreign affiliates statistics : text aligned with recently published BD4 • Measurement of modes of supply of services discussed in new Chapter 5

  12. Main Revisions to the Manual (Continued) • Revision of other linked frameworks (tourism satellite account methodological information) incorporated into the text • Incorporation of changes in the activity (ISIC) and product classifications (CPC) • Incorporation of an online analytical annex

  13. Challenges • Broaden coverage and scope together with data providers • Promote earlier availability of summary and detailed data • Facilitate implementation of BPM6 recommendations (compilation guidance) • Fine-tune inter-agency consistency (inter alia forthcoming MoU OECD-UNSD) • Integrated product list goods and services
