FaithfullyLivingInGod’sHolyTruth Flight Training WEEK 1 – “Cleared for Take Off” God has transformed and called us for the purposes of His kingdom. He has given us a manual to use so that we will know how to do it and walk it out. So let’s get ready to fly! A James 1:5 New International Reader's Version (NIRV) If any of you need wisdom, ask God for it. He will give it to you. God gives freely to everyone. He doesn't find fault. Flight Manual:The word wisdom means “to see”. In the Holy Bible, true wisdom only comes from the light of the very Word of God. True wisdom begins when we live according to what God says is right. True wisdom is a righteous way of living and not necessarily a measure of how smart we are. The Bible is clear that there are two kinds of wisdom: one from God (heavenly wisdom) and the other from the devil (worldly wisdom). The scripture in James 3:17 talks about the two kinds of wisdom. The person with wisdom that comes from Heaven is first of all pure, then peaceable, loving, considerate, willing to yield, forgiving, full of good fruits. But the person with the other kind of wisdom—worldly wisdom from the devil—is selfish, ambitious, envious, disordered, and every other evil practice. The Bible is our source for heavenly wisdom.Hearing, reading, studying, memorizing and meditating on the Word of God will help us to live a good life. And when we ask God for wisdom, He will gladly give it to us. Wisdom is indeed the key to overcome every kind of trials in our lives and to live a joyful and peaceful life.
B Matthew 26:28 Common English Bible (CEB) This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many so that their sins may be forgiven. Flight Manual: Covenant means a will, a testament, a contract. This contract always required shedding of animal blood between two people; these were called blood sacrifices. In the Old Testament, the covenant was always between God and mankind, but people would always break the covenant. God therefore sent His Son to shed His Holy Blood on the cross so that there would be a new covenant between God the Father and the person of Jesus Christ, His beloved Son who is perfect in goodness and truth. In the Bible, this new contract is called the “New Testament”. By dying on the cross, Jesus shed His blood and activated the new covenant. We are forgiven for our sins because they are covered by Jesus’s blood. This covenant, or contract, can never be broken. Jesus’ blood covers forever the sins of those who believe in Him. In return for Jesus Christ’s obedience to death on the cross, our Heavenly Father promised to send His Holy Spirit to fill us, the believers, because of this wonderful new covenant. We now have direct access to God, anytime and everywhere! C Matthew 19:14 New International Version (NIV) Jesus said, “Let the little childrencome to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Flight Manual:Jesus loves children; he blesses them and welcomes them into His Holy Presence. They are just as important to God as are the adults. The kingdom of heaven is God’s home; it is where He lives and rules over all the heavens and the earth. God says that the kingdom of heaven belongs to everyone with a childlike heart, including both adults and children. To belong to the Kingdom of Heaven means to belong to God’s Church. They are the same. D John 8:31-32 New International Version (NIV) Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Flight Manual:The Bible contains the Words that God has spoken. God always does what He says He will do. God is Holy and therefore can only speak truthfully. A disciple is someone who learns, like a student. It is important to continually study the Bible because the truth is found in it. And when we know the truth, God says that the truth sets us free. Free from what? Free from being a prisoner of the problems in our hearts and of problems in the world that we must deal with every day. This truth has even the power to set us free from eternal death. It is important to know God’s Word: the BIBLE. BIBLE = GOD’s Word = Truth = Freedom
