Impact : National & State Levels National Level Integrated planning surpassing departmental boundaries X Finance Commission’s use of HDI for resource allocation XI Five year Plan focus on Inclusive growth- HD approach HD integrated into national training academy for government officers State Level HD chapters in 8 State level Five Year Plans Courses on HD in 3 Universities 15 State Training Institutes deliver HD modules on regular basis for state & district staff Also through satellite for local body members
Impact: UN System UN System HD monitoring-people oriented process- HD Report Cards with UNICEF Use by UNDAF districts for UN system planning - UNCT Gender disaggregated data and gender budgeting with UNIFEM UNDP Capacity building initiatives for local bodies Integrated in UNDP CPAP - Integration with Governance portfolio
Impact – Maharashtra HDR The findings of the Report as inputs into the Budget for 2003-2005. The first budget of the State government after the release of the Report was called “budget for human development” The Maharashtra Chief Minister, in his speech at the National Development Council in June 2005 mentioned that the road-map for the future was based on the HDR Human Development Mission for low HDI districts initiated – HD planning given key role
Impact – Orissa HDR The CM committed that the Government of Orissa has targeted to reduce poverty by 7% by the end of the 10th five year plan The State Government mounted the Mission Shakti to empower women and encourage them to participate in economy Infant Mortality Mission has been launched to reduce the IMR Water-shed mission has been entrusted with the task of drought-proofing measures, including soil and water conservation
