4 STEPS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT • Initiation • Planning • Execution • Closure
INITIATION The initiation phase of a project involves an overall description of the task and what is required. • The purpose of the project, including its objectives • The Mission/Vision Statement • The time period for the project • The required staff and the resources needed
PLANNING The planning stage involves creating an Action Plan and assigning individual duties to team members. • Action Plan • Assign individual duties
Execution (Coordination) The execution phase involves orchestrating the activities of the actual project by following the team’s Action Plan. • Make adjustments to Action Plan • Inform “stakeholders” of adjustments and their potential effect on the project • Completion of Action Plan • Presentation of results
CLOSURE The project is finalized after completion of all activities. • Review the project, including successes and the failures, and their impact on the final result • Make a final report including observations concerning the project and any recommendations for future projects
