  1. When will I receive PeopleSoft training (and why do I have to be trained?) Susan Kachner CMS Campus Solutions Project Lead March 26, 2008

  2. Agenda • Why is PeopleSoft training required? • Training for faculty and staff • Where can I get more information on training? • What’s live in PeopleSoft? • Registration and the Faculty Center • Setting expectations • Questions

  3. Why is PeopleSoft Training Required? • PeopleSoft is a lot more complicated to use than SIS+ • PeopleSoft uses new terminology. Some examples: • Major is now called a plan • Concentrations/emphases are now called sub-plans • Course numbers are now called catalog numbers • Schedule numbers are now called class numbers • Campus policy: No one receives security to access PeopleSoft until they have been trained

  4. Training for Faculty and Staff • Just prior to going live with new functionality in PeopleSoft, we identify who needs access to that functionality based on SIS+ access and therefore needs training. “Just-in-time training” • Emails are sent inviting those faculty and staff to training. Some training is in-person view-only, some is in-person hands-on and some are web tutorials. • Before receiving any in-person training, we require completion of 2 web tutorials: • Campus Solutions Basics http://connect01.fullerton.edu/csbasics • FERPA http://Connect01.fullerton.edu/FERPA

  5. Where can I get more information on training? http://www.fullerton.edu/cms/Training/docs/student/student.html

  6. What’s live in PeopleSoft? • Course Catalog data – inventory of all courses ever offered at CSUF • Class Schedule data – all terms from the beginning of CSUF through Spring 2008 and Fall 2008. Summer 2008 will be converted soon. • Admissions for all terms - Went live March 10th • Financial Aid for 2008/09 award year - Went live March 17th • Note that the 2007/08 award year will complete in SIS+ • Student Center - Went live March 10th New Titan Online • Will gradually replace old Titan Online • Functionality in old Titan Online that has migrated to New Titan Online will have clear instructions telling students to use the New Titan Online

  7. Registration and the Faculty Center • Registration and fee payment • Summer 2008 registration will be done in SIS+ and the old Titan Online • Fall 2008 registration will be done in PeopleSoft • Pilot May 19-20. Fee payment will be available but not required until July. • Web tutorial on how to use the Student Center to register and pay fees will be available prior to May 19th • Faculty Center will launch mid-May and will be accessed from the New Titan Online tab in the Faculty/Staff Portal • Real-time downloadable classlists for Fall 2008 • Easy mechanism to email students in your classes • Online grading will be required for Fall 2008 • Web tutorial on how to use the Faculty Center will be available mid-May accessible from the CMS Training website

  8. Setting Expectations • Even with training, learning to use a new system will be a challenge • Responding to questions and troubleshooting problems will take longer as people learn the new system • While PeopleSoft provides many benefits over SIS+, there will be some functionality that will be lost such as pre-payment. • Some things will stay the same such as how to access Blackboard • Reports are being converted to PeopleSoft in priority order. Some reports will not be converted at all. • We have to remember that it took us 14 years to get SIS+ to the point it’s at today. Our approach to this implementation has been to make sure we have the “must haves” in PeopleSoft and deal with the “nice to haves” later.
