  3. In February each girl and boy Is heard to say, ‘Kung Hei Fat Choy.’ 恭喜發財

  4. In March the Christians sing and pray To celebrate their Easter Day. Christian: the person who believes God pray: to speak to God

  5. We must in April graves upkeep, Flowers plant and headstones sweep. grave: the place in the ground where a dead person is buried upkeep: look after

  6. May may bring the first typhoon, With terrifying fear and doom. terrify: frighten greatly doom: destruction; death

  7. On dragon boats in joyful June, They bang the drums for wet Wat Yuen.

  8. Then as the warmer days float by, We start to melt in hot July. float: drift slowly melt: be heated until turning to liquid

  9. And seek the shade in many ways, As August brings the hotter days. shade: shadow

  10. September sees the lanterns’ light, As high above, the moon shines bright.

  11. October comes and Halloween, When ghosts and goblins may be seen.

  12. November comes. The year is old. The nights are long and we get cold.

  13. Then in December, days of cheer Bring to an end another year.
