The following five scenarios, are problems similar to what you may see on the NetWare 6 CNA exam "Foundations of Novell Networking", where you have to deduce what a user's effective rights are in a given file system structure. Even though the operating system is very generous in clearly showing a user's effective rights, Novell expects all CNA candidates to logically conclude what a user's rights are based on a scenario. The first three scenarios take a look at simple file system inheritance based strictly on a user's explicit trustee assignments and inherited assignments. The second two scenarios examine complex file system inheritance based on a user's trustee assignments, inherited and explicit, and any trustee assignments the user may have based on groups (including organizational roles) that the user is a member of.
Instructions: Based on the scenarios, fill in the blanks with the rights that the user has at each level of the file system. For Scenario 1 you would fill in all blanks, starting at the Shared folder, under user Emma. For Scenario 2 you would do the same under user George, and so on. An IRF is provided at each level of the file system. Your responses must consider the IRF.
Scenario 1: For the following three scenarios, the file system structure is: SHARED > DEPARTMENTAL > TRAINING > EVALS.DOC Scenario 1: If Emma has been granted the [RF] trustee assignment to the SHARED directory, what are her effective rights at each level of the file system?
Scenario 2: If George has been granted the [S] trustee assignment to the SHARED directory, what are his effective rights at each level of the file system?
Scenario 3: If Marian has been granted the [RWCEMFA] trustee assignment to the SHARED directory, and has been granted the [RWF] trustee assignment to the EVALS.DOC file, what are her effective rights at each level of the file system?
Scenario 1: If Robbie has been granted the [RFMA] Individual trustee assignment to the SHARED directory, and as a member of the [Public] trustee has been granted the [WCE] trustee assignment to the DEPARTMENTAL directory, what are his effective rights at each level of the file system.
Scenario 2: If Gregory has been granted the [S] Individual trustee assignment to the TRAINING directory, and as a member of the Trainers group has been granted the [WCEF] assignment to the DEPARTMENTAL directory, and as a member of the [PUBLIC] trustee has been granted the [R] trustee assignment to the SHARED directory, what are his effective rights at each level of the file system?
