What Is Recycling? Recycling is something that helps reduce and reuse trash. It is the process of reusing trash to make something new. When you recycle, you prevent the trash from getting buried in a landfill.
Items That You Can Recycle You can recycle: • Plastic • Paper • Cardboard • Aluminum
The Process of Recycling First, the recyclables are put in a recycling bin. Every week, a truck comes and tosses the recyclables in. They are taken to a factory where they are melted down. The melted recyclables are then cooled into molds and make something new, like a plastic container that can hold milk or a new coke can.
How Can We Help? At your house, you probably have a recycling bin. At the bottom of some items, there might be recycling symbol that looks like this: If the number by the symbol is 1 through 7, then it’s probably recyclable.
