MRES Growth • FCPS and MRES demographics are changing. • November 20 at 7:00 pm- PTA meeting • The details of our addition: • 2 story addition that includes 12 classrooms and a multi-purpose room. • Cafeteria expansion. • A new parking lot. • Temporary loss of blacktop. • Removal of trailers.
Professional Development • One Monday / month • All teachers participate • All administrators participate • Consistent message across the county • Follow-up at the school level • 9 Strategies
Objectives for Professional Development • Prepare teachers to build quality relationships. • Develop students critical thinking skills through engagement in high level tasks. • Access to supportive tools and opportunities for productive talk. • Embed knowledge of 21st Century Skills. • Address the increased rigor of SOL’s. • Increase content knowledge and pedagogy of staff to teach higher level skills.
Budget • “We will face a critical challenge as our revenues have simply not increased at the same rate as our growth and needs.” Dr. Garza • FCPS does not have taxing authority. • FCPS relies heavily on Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and the State. • Dr. Garza will present the budget at the end of Nov.
