2013 Work Programme R2I- ENP RATIONALE • Transition to Horizon 2020 • "Common Knowledge and Innovation Space" = new ENP political priority • Experience of ERA-WIDE projects
2013 Work Programme R2I- ENP GEOGRAPHIC AREAS Two regional groupings of ENP countries (proposals should target only one) • Eastern Partnership: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine • Mediterranean Partner Countries : Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian-Administered Areas, Syria, Tunisia (Moldova and Israel are FP7 Associated countries and can participate as such in the activity)
2013 Work Programme R2I- ENP TECHNICAL CONTENT / SCOPE • Involve different stakeholders of the "knowledge value chain": research, industry/SMEs associations, innovation networks /agencies, public authorities, end-users… • Promote interaction and transfer of knowledge between academia, research organizations and industry for an effective market uptake of research results • Focus on only one societal challenge identified in the Commission proposal for Horizon 2020
2013 Work Programme R2I- ENP PROPOSED ACTIVITIES • Network between ≠ actors in the "knowledge value chain" to better focus research on socio-economic needs as well as to facilitate exploitation of research results; • Identifying concrete opportunities/bottlenecks related to knowledge and innovation management, transfer, and use in the targeted countries; • Improving competencies and mutual learning by promoting best practices through twinning between relevant organisations in MS/AC and ENP countries (training, exchange of staff-research/industry…); support to young innovative companies for setting-up technological partnerships; • Developing coordinated or joint activities such as provision of innovation support services (technical assistance on market/risk assessment, IPR issues, innovation management skills,…). 2013 Work Programme R2I- ENP IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT Funding scheme : Supporting Action; 1M€ max per action for a duration of 3 years; total budget =9.5M€ Participants : • Min 2 participants from targeted Area + Min 2 participants from EU MS/AC • Min 2 reps from research organisations + min 2 reps from industry /business community (including industrial/SMEs associations, entities managing incubators, industrial clusters, innovation support service providers,…) • Clustering between actions targeting the same geographical area (10% of budget action)
