Meet, in office, with interested volunteer within one week of initial contact Have them complete application after interview Following reference check, review of application, plug them into a scheduled appointment, “First Experience” Allows them to see and “get hooked” from the beginning Allows you to know they are available during regular appointment times Explicit instructions MUST be given to new volunteer not to contribute anything to appointment; only there to observe.
