Objective • Demonstrate your knowledge of Act 3 scene i by participating in a dramatic reading and completing associated questions.
Tonight’s Homework • Read Act 3 scenes ii. Go to pages 853-858. • Label your paper “Romeo’s in trouble.” • Answer the following questions: • In lines 1-24, fully explain Juliet’s soliloquy. • In lines 36-44, explain what’s happening and why Juliet’s upset. • (75-79) What oxymorons or pairs of opposites does Juliet use to express her monetary feeling that Romeo has betrayed her? Why would she use them in describing her feeling of the situation? • She’s obviously upset at her cousin’s death, but there’s more to the story. Explain.
What’s an oxymoron? • Two words that conflict with each other. Two words which do not agree with each other.
