  2. Objective • Demonstrate your knowledge of Act 3 scene i by participating in a dramatic reading and completing associated questions.

  3. Tonight’s Homework • Read Act 3 scenes ii. Go to pages 853-858. • Label your paper “Romeo’s in trouble.” • Answer the following questions: • In lines 1-24, fully explain Juliet’s soliloquy. • In lines 36-44, explain what’s happening and why Juliet’s upset. • (75-79) What oxymorons or pairs of opposites does Juliet use to express her monetary feeling that Romeo has betrayed her? Why would she use them in describing her feeling of the situation? • She’s obviously upset at her cousin’s death, but there’s more to the story. Explain.

  4. What’s an oxymoron? • Two words that conflict with each other. Two words which do not agree with each other.

  5. Review your homework from Friday • Paper pass-back • Open your textbook to page 874. • Take out your papers.

  6. Acting out the scene • Act 3 scene i – page 845 • Benvolio • Mercutio • Tybalt • Romeo • Prince • Citizen • Lady Capulet • Montague

  7. Review the video • Compare the play to the movie • What dramatic events are emphasized by the director? • Is the movie version accurate? The way you perceived the scene?
