Scenario • A truck carrying a shipment of Type A packages containing 131I medical radioisotopes is driving towards a hospital in a busy part of your city at 8:00 in the morning. There are Class 7 Radioactive placards on the sides and back of the truck carrying the radioisotopes. • As the truck is driving on a bridge over a river to take it into the city, it is involved in an accident with a container truck coming from the opposite direction. The collision knocks the truck carrying the radioisotopes over and onto its side. • There are reports that the driver is badly injured and is unconscious. The reports also state that liquid that has been seen coming from the truck and is dripping into the river. • First responders have arrived at the scene. No elevated levels of radiation or contamination have been detected. The driver has been removed from the vehicle, is not contaminated and is being taken to the hospital.
