VLADIMIR NABUKOV (22 April 1899- 2 July 1977) • Was born in Saint Petersburg in a family of the minor nobility • The family spoke Russian, English and French in their household, so Nabukov was trilingual from an early age • Emigrated with his family to Berlin, but when World War II started, emigrated with his wife in America • Wrote his first nine novels in Russian • He also made contributions to etomology.

  2. After the great financial success of “Lolita”, Nabukov was able to return to Europe • He established himself in Montreux with his family and dedicated himself to writing • He moved and stayed at the Palace Hotel with his wife until his death on 2 July 1977. • At the time of his death he was working on his novel • titled “The original Laura” • His wife Vera and son Dmitri were entrusted with • Nabokov's literary executorship and though he asked • them to burn the manuscript, they chose not to • destroy his final work.
