Role In Government • The Shah was re-instated with the help of western intelligence agencies to be a stabilizing, pro-western leader in the Middle East • The primary role of the Shah and his government was to lead the centralization of the economy and the distribution of oil revenues
Reasons for his overthrow • A struggling economy combined with rising unemployment and growing income gaps between those who benefitted from industrialization and those who did not benefit from it.
Impact of Being Overthrown • De-stabilization in the Middle East • Struggling economy due to poor planning and trade restrictions.
