Speed- how fast a moving object it traveling • Changing speed- when the speed of an object is different • Constant speed- when the speed of an object stays the same
Gravity- force of attraction between objects due to their masses. Always pulls vertically down. • Vertical- straight up and down
Force- push or pull on an object • Support force- force acting against gravity to hold the object up. Keeps object from falling to the center of the earth • Elastic force- pushing or pulling force from an elastic object • Air resistance- when air is pushing against an object • Friction- force that opposes the motion of one object across another object. Tries to prevent slipping • Tension Force- pulling force from ropes or strings
Total force- force that results from combining all the forces exerted on an object. • Unbalanced force- forces on an object cause the net force to be other than zero. Causes a change in motion • Balanced force- forces acting on an object that the net force to be zero. Causes no change in motion
