  5. Sexual Immorality • God’s people have always had this challenge • -Joseph (Gen.39) • -David (2 Sam.11) • -Amnon and Tamar (2 Sam.13) • Remember the teachings of: • -Jesus (Mat.5:27-28; 19; Jn.4:18) • -John (Mark 6:17-18) Resist the Devil

Sexual Immorality(fornication) would include: • Adultery - Sexual Activity With The Spouse Of Another (Hebrews 13:4) • Homosexuality - Sexual Activity Between the Same Sex(Leviticus 18:22; I Corinthians 6:9) • Lesbianism - Sexual Activity Between Two Females(Romans 1:26) • Beastality - Sexual Activity Between a Human and an Animal(Leviticus 18:23) Resist the Devil

Sexual Immoralitycomes from the heart • Pornography - Sexual Thoughts With Someone Not Your Spouse (Job 31:1; Matthew 5:27-28) • Immodest Dress (at the pool, beach, work, school) – Inviting Sexual Thoughts From Any And All (I Timothy 2:9-10) • Dancing - Sexual Thoughts Produced With Sensual Motions(Galatians 5:19) • Making-Out – Sexual Thoughts And Activity Between People Not Married To Each Other (Genesis 39) Resist the Devil

  9. Sexual Immorality • Sexual immorality was a major problem with the early church • Only NT books NOT dealing with this sin: 2 Thess., Philemon, 2 and 3 John • Why was the NT church so greatly affected (infected) by sexual immorality? Resist the Devil

  10. Sexual Immorality • We must keep the church pure from sexual immorality (Ephesians 5:27). • How does the church do that? • The whole church can be greatly affected by the sin of one member (I Cor.5:6-7) • How must the church deal with such a sin? Resist the Devil

  11. Sexual Immorality • Each member must keep themselves pure. But how? • -keep your heart clean • -never put yourself in a tempting situation • -satisfy sexual needs in holy marriage • -pray for strength Resist the Devil

  12. Obeying the Gospel • Hear the gospel(Romans 10:17) • Believe(Mark 16:16; Hebrews 11:6) • Repent(Acts 2:38; Acts 17:30) • Confess(Romans 10:9-10; Acts 8:37) • “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” • Be baptized(Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38) • Live faithfully(Hebrews 10:36)
