Sustainable Acquisition Update • FY 2012 NETS SA Data Call: • Govt. P-Card purchases exempt from data call reporting per HQ • Had been included in previous years • Distorts direct comparison with previous years • 81% overall compliance with CPG purchases for FY12 • For applicable purchases (non-P-Card), Directorates reported 100% compliance. • Contracts reported 78% CPG compliance. • 91% overall compliance with biobased purchases for FY12 • Directorates reported no biobased applicability. • Contracts reported 91% biobased compliance. • Note: Data may only have been submitted when there were compliant biobased values to include. • Emphasize submission of non-compliant datain future calls.
Energy and Water Conservation Objective: Reduce energy in goal-subject facilities by 3% annually and water consumption by 2% annually as required by National Energy Conservation Policy Act and Executive Orders 13423 and 13514 Meeting Goal Not Meeting Goal Point of Contact: Bobby Charles This priority is being addressed by the Energy and Water Efficiency Committee

Regulated Waste • Recognizing HM as a potential hazardous waste (HW). Ensure that facility personnel are aware of HM management polices (CMTS, Form 44’s) and disposal requirements. • Starting to be more stringent in area of Waste Management compliance in the Multi-Media Environmental Audits. • Addressing/enforcing Waste Management Plan requirements in LF 461/Project Review process to ensure that HM and HW used/generated in projects are identified. • How Can EMC Members Assist With Hazardous Materials & Regulated Waste Management? • Pursue within respective organizations correction of Multi-Media Environmental Audit findings. • Form relationships with your FEC’s and discuss environmental issues associated with your facility. • Get involved with the 461 process associated with your organizational projects.
Water Quality Objective: Improve water quality and reduce quantity of water discharged from Center Point of Contact: Peter Van Dyke
Water Quality Update • MS4 Permit reapplication – addressing the Bay TMDL • SAGE Partnership • New bacteria TMDL for Back River, Poquoson River, Tabbs Creek and Brick Kiln Creek. LaRC is participating in the process. • How Can EMC Members Assist With Water Quality? • Erosion and sediment control concerns at demo/construction sites • Let me know what types of education/outreach works best - @LaRCs, etc. • Promote tree plantings around buildings and other landscaping activities
