  2. North American Plate • Yellowstone is located on the North American plate • This plate is located between Wyoming and Montana

  3. Explanation of Tectonics • The Yellowstone Plateau Volcanic Field was formed due to the plate tectonic movements over the past years

  4. Geologic History • The has always been a lot of volcanic history in Yellowstone • The Washburn Range is part of the Absaroka volcanic field • Lava flows formed the boundaries of the lakes • The lava flow recorded is in the era of 500,000 and 100,000 years ago

  5. Recent History • It is recorded that Old Faithful erupts every 30 to 78 minutes • There has not been hardly any activity recently except for earthquakes

  6. The Great Impact • When the super volcano that lies within Yellowstone erupts, there will be huge areas of North America that will be destroyed • It is even possible for the ash to block the sun, which would cause temperatures to drop.

  7. What to do • The majority of the people who live near Yellowstone realize that there is not much they can do • It is going to be a natural disaster, and you can not control natural disasters
