We make a difference! In Our School! In Our Community! In Our World!
How Do We Do It??? • We begin by welcoming any students who would like to participate into the club and meet once a week • Then we work together to choose a cause to support with our fundraising efforts; last year it was Ryan’s Well Foundation. This year, we chose to support the Pediatric Unit of the Sudbury Regional Hospital. We wanted to bring smiles to the faces of kids who are going through a tough time • Next we set a fundraising goal... This year we hope to raise $2000, just like last year • Finally we think of fundraisers that we can organize in our school and get going as soon as possible!
For Our School... • Sold Candygrams to raise funds, lift spirits and promote friendship and kindness • Organized a Winter Ball – tonnes of fun for the students while raising money through pledges and SparkleJars • Organized the Adamsdale’s Got Talent Show • Organized many events to build community ties including: • A Book Bingo • A Mystery Family Night • A Family Picnic to celebrate moms and dads • Still to come... A Water Play Day in June to celebrate our efforts!
For Our Community... • Organized and ran a Halloween For Hunger campaign for the Sudbury Food Bank • Donated money to help Angele, a friend of one of our members, who was in need of a new wheelchair • Organized many events to reach our $2000 fundraising goal for the Pediatric Unit of the Sudbury Regional Hospital including: • Singing Christmas carolsin the neighbourhood (creating many smiles while raising money!) • Selling Christmascards to parents with an option of making a donation instead of purchasing a gift for their child’s teacher • Candy-grams • Bake Sale
In The World... • Helped raise environmental awareness through the organization of Garbageless Lunches and a Community Clean-up during Earth Week • Donated $100 to the Haiti Relief fund • Planted trees at Lake Laurentian and in the forest behind our school
A story to share... Last year, Adamsdale’s Me to We Club raised money to help build a well in Kenya with Ryan’s Well Foundation. This year the students decided to help out in our community through a donation to the Pediatric Unit of the Sudbury Regional Hospital; hoping to brighten a child’s day while they are going through a tough time. 2 students in our club have a friend who is confined to a wheelchair. Her name is Angele and she has a disease that attacks her spine. After numerous operations, she was in need of a new wheelchair and her parents were experiencing difficulty making ends meet. The girls approached the club, asking if we could help this family out. In the spirit of helping sick children in our community, we matched the donation made by Angele’s school and donated $300 of our funds to the family to help buy a new wheelchair for Angele. What a great way to show that you care!
What Did We Learn? We are learning to become global citizens; looking and listening for people in need and thinking of ways that we can help...
What will we do next??? Anything in the world that is close to our hearts!
It’s Time To Make the World a Better Place It’s Our Time!
