Litter Statistics • 30% of people litter • Students are more likely to litter • In 2005 lost scrap value of beverage bottles and cans exceeded $2.1 billion • 27% of urban citizens litter as compared to 36% in rural environments • 17% increase in amount of waste in bins from 2003 to 2004 www.greenecoservices.com

Environment and Chemical Engineering • Companies now focusing on cutting carbon emissions • Companies have stricter regulatory requirements • Many corporations have Environmental Health and Safety departments and programs (GE) • Chemical Engineers have desired skill set to solve environmental problems
