  3. Things to know • Daily Schedule • Curriculum – ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies • Science Star Test – includes 4thand 5th grade science concepts • Grading Policy • Tests • Progress reports and Report Cards –Rubrics based on CCSS – refer to FUSD website in the brochure

  4. Curriculum • Math – Math Expressions - JIJI also available online • ELA- Treasures • Science – Houghton Mifflin • Social Studies - Scott Foresman

  5. Math Program • Math Expressions –SAB, H&R, Math Talk • Homework everyday except Friday • Test at end of a Unit • Online component will be ready before Thanksgiving • Student log in will be provided soon.

  9. Science 5th Grade – 4th Grade projects • Science Fair – School • Science Lab grade is incorporated as class work grade • Tests at end of every chapter • 5th Grade students are tested in Science during STAR test • District Science Fair

  11. Science Lab/ComputerP.E/Library • Library - Fridays • Science – Thurs • Computer – Wed • P.E – Tue • Mon/Fri are rotation schedule for Science, P.E, and Computer

  12. Field Trips • 5 or more during the school year • Parent drivers needed • Collect money upfront for all trips • Require $50 donation from each student to cover cost of all trips. • Due by 11/30/14 – can give in installments • Look for more information in Blue folder by end of this month.

  13. Celebrations • Birthdays – treats to be shared with whole class either beginning of day or end of day. (healthy food/ individual student prizes like bookmarks, scented dry erase markers, pencils, color markers, highlighters etc) • Class party-Halloween Christmas Valentine’s Day End of the year picnic at the park
