Characteristics Type: A Natural Multifilament Non-Absorbable Suture Tensile Strength: High but becomes weaker by 1 year due to moisture absorption. Construction: Braided Color(s) of Suture: Violet, white and black Common Uses: Serosa of gastrointestinal tract and fascia in absence of infection Sizes: 8-0 , 7-0 , 6-0 , 5-0 , 4-0 , 3-0 , 2-0 , 0 , #1 , #2 Needle Type & Size: Tapered point needles of various sizes. Other: Virgin silk sutures (blue) are used in ophthalmic surgeries and are frequently used for suture ligatures.
