TCU Goals and Motivations. exploring and pointing out the potential role of P&S as a key factor in the framework of the technologies for the global new IS P&S convey the flexibility typical of knowledge based technologies in support of: new modalities of work, production, commerce, entertainment and education relevant issues: autonomy, adaptivity, distribution, mobility, automatic collaborative support

  4. TCU Goals and Motivations. Web as a Trasparent Media Traditional P&S systems use the web as a communication media, they act via the web Web as an Environment Web entities and Web services are the object of P&S systems, actions and plans on the web are pursuing goals on web entities

Web as an Environment • components for web servers (goal guided synthesis/maintenance of web sites) • components for supporting online services ( scheduling load distribution to online assistance operators, activation of assistance/emergency chain, online configuration of products) • generation/monitoring of supply chain (scheduling, logistics, resources management) • user support, user adaptive services (e.g. automatic synthesis monitoring for personalized educational systems, personalized newspapers); • P&S components of softbot, (e.g. softbot for automatic auctioning, stockbots etc.) • online P&S services ( general or specialized tools which plan or schedule on demand, e.g. for checking/rescheduling activities)

  6. TCU Goals and Motivations. • The TCU aims not only a Web focus but also: • Collaborative systems • Distributed and mobile environments • New media/devices

Oddi, CNR, Italy ) • mixed-initiative P&S, collaborative development of schedules for spacecraft mission plan • Business Process Re-engineering(M.D.Moreno, Univ.Alcala, Spain ) • organisations restructure their business processes wrt e-business models • AI Software and e-commerce (R.Benjamins, Int.Soft.Comp., Spain) • online banking agents and shopping agents reasoning on commercial goals • BT Workforce Management System (B. Laithwaite, APSolve, UK) • scheduling British Telecom workforce activities in a mobile environment

TCU RoadMap preliminary guidelines: • assembling and configuring existing primitive services on the web for use in P&S • development of a common semantics for web sites oriented to P&S ( link to XML technologies, planning vocabularies, emerging wrapper technologies) • development of models and techniques in distributed, mobile, collaborative P&S

  10. WebTCU Actions establishing a TCU Web site • as place for announcements/info exchange among PLANET members collection of demos & applications of WEB P&S • not only a showcase but online demo/applications • applications and resources within and outside the network

  11. WebTCU Actions definition of the TCU roadmap • as the main guideline for the TCU • starting by the next TCU Meeting May/June 2002

WebTCU Actions promoting nodes participation and support to e-commerce conferences and events: • sponsorship of side events (e.g. workshop, panels, seminars etc.) • short info announces about WebTCU and PLANET • reports from IT and P&S conferences to be disseminated among PLANET members, focusing on what is going on/emerging in the field

  13. WebTCU Actions Actions for involving Web & New IT companies: • target for technology transfer • source of relevant issues from marketplace to research Information Days with focused homogeneus target audience info announces at specialised conferences

  14. WebTCU Members • growing interest in memberships • attracting new PLANET members, also from outside EU (USA, Eastern Europe) Currently: Special actions for: • Promoting participations of Web and New IT companies
