Obvious Troll …Is Obvious
Philosophy Review • There are 3 Foundations of Learning, according to Sanford. • See Much • Study Much • Suffer Much
Philosophy Review • This is, according to the syllabus, a college level class. • Also according to the syllabus, you are to read the material before it is discussed. • Based on this week’s calendar, the reading is for chapter 5. • I repeat…before it is discussed.
Counting Review • After the number 4, comes the number 5. • The number 5, I said!
Historical Review • The last time we had a quiz we then spent the second half of class doing something. • Since this was my ACT/SAT/Major Test strategies, you might not have pieced this together. • Last week on Friday we completed chapter 4’s lecture material. • P.S. I totally talked up how important the lecture was. If you are a Trouvere, you pretty much just missed a calculator lesson and Mr. Sanford telling the class to be quiet.
Expectation Review • The chapter 3 homework is due today. • The chapter 4 quiz is today. • You are apparently expected to navigate this quiz without a posted quiz review. • The chapter 4 homework is due tomorrow, but if you do not look at it before the quiz, that could disadvantage you. • Chapter 5 is to be read prior to its discussion in class.
The Moment of Synthesis • As of right now you should have previously done the following: • Read chapters 1-4 to the point of understanding. • Completed 2 homework assignments. • Looked over a third homework assignment. • Studied for 3 quizzes (though so far you have only actually taken one). • Read at least part of chapter 5.
Apollo and Starbuck • We have had 3 weeks, so that list does not seem so bad from that angle. • However, 1 homework assignment and the considered homework assignment, as well as the quiz preparations, not to mention the reading into chapter 5…was all this weekend. • Holy frack! • BattlestarGalactica references FTW!
Today’s Real Test • If you have already done the following: • finish chapter 3 homework • look at each problem of the chapter 4 homework and have attempted at least half of them • have thoroughly studied the five bulletpoints or at least attended the lunch review session • read at least 5 pages of chapter 5 from the book • Then you are ready for what college expects from you. • If not, you have to choose between remaining unready or bridging the gap.
New Terminology • Taking a vote – A democratic process whereby I give you guys the ability to control your own fate or destiny. • I will usually find ways to influence the vote. • Conducting an opinion poll – A less democratic process by which I determine your preference and then go on to do my own thing. • I will generally consider the input seriously before making my decision.
What Do Trolls Have To Do With This? • The quiz is a bit of a hoax. • Sort of. • There is a chapter 4 quiz…but I will not be administering it for a grade. • We will instead discuss the questions on it to help clarify our understanding of chapter 4. • Unless you guys would like to take it as a proper quiz instead. • Let’s take a vote.
