Value Proposition • Value proposition • Robust network through standards-based 802.11 wireless network. • Central monitoring of traffic capacity, performance, security breaches, and outside attacks (in collaboration with ITSO) • Customer impact • Users have a consistent experience with the use of the network • Key benefits • Cost savings by leveraging central staff & support • Monitored, securely patched, redundant
Network Resiliency • Access points use POE power from the switches. As new construction occurs, it is now standard to add UPS (30 min) to switches powering VoIP or Wi-Fi access points. During the April 2016 power outage we lost ~1/3 of the Wi-Fi access points, 25K wi-fi devices remained connected and had Internet access. • The Wi-Fi controllers are a N+1 configuration and have 30 minute UPS or generator (housed with the routers). • Please review the network resiliency during your next building construction or renovation. . You may need to request a UPS.
Annual cost of Wi-Fi Network Service • Cost to deliver the service: • Fee for service: varies
