Wellness=A broad concept of health that includes a combination of physical, mental and social health. • Risk Factors=Any action or condition that increases the likelihood of injury, disease or threatens the health of others.

Teen Violence • 1st teen murder occurred in 1786, Hannah Occuish (12) from New London, Connecticut killed a 6 yr. old by strangling her and beating her with a rock. She was hanged for this crime. • 1st teen thrill killing 1872 Jessie Pomeroy (12) murdered 2 young boys in Boston Massachusetts and tortured 6 others. Victims ranged from 4-8 yrs. Old. They were tied up, beaten and had there throats and genitals slashed. Pomeroy spent 41 years in prison.
Teen Violence • 1st act of school violence occurred May 9th 1944 when 2 students Madeline Kirkland (11) and Eileen Foster (13) killed 9 year old school mate Margaret Patton. Murder occurred in Harlem New York. The 2 girls held Margaret down and stabbed her to death. • 1st school shooting occurred May 4th 1956 at Maryland Park Junior High in Maryland. Billy Ray Prevatte (15) took a gun to school and opened fire, wounding 3 teachers. Nobody was killed.
Teen Violence • Deadliest school murder in the US occurred April 20th 1999 Littleton, Colorado. Dylan Klebold (18) Eric Harris (17) killed 13 classmates and teachers then killed themselves. 23 students were wounded. • Deadliest world shooting occurred in Germany on April 26th 2002. Robert Stenihauser (19) killed 16 including 13 teachers, 2 students a police officer and wounded 7 students.

(Usually do not make a direct threat) • He was a loner (Most shooter had plenty of friends, some even had a girlfriend. • He was crazy (Less than 20% of these shooters are mentally ill and most are not involved in substance abuse. This proves there is always a chance of an attack.
